How to get cashless ECHS treatment in Delhi

1. 1. Start at your polyclinic. For anything planned, report to the ECHS polyclinic you are attached to in Delhi. The polyclinic examines you and issues a referral to an empanelled facility. Going straight to a hospital for planned treatment is the single most common reason a claim is refused.
2. 2. Carry a valid Smart Card. The 64-KB ECHS Smart Card is what proves entitlement. If yours has expired or is still pending, sort it out before you need treatment — an expired card turns a cashless admission into a reimbursement claim.
3. 3. Check the MOA is current. Empanelment runs on short Memorandum-of-Agreement cycles that lapse on fixed dates. Every facility on this site shows its MOA validity; if it has lapsed, reconfirm on www.echs.gov.in before admission.
4. 4. In an emergency, go straight there. For a genuine emergency you may report directly to any empanelled hospital in Delhi without a referral — but inform your parent polyclinic within 48 hours, or the cashless claim can be rejected.
5. 5. Keep every document. Referral letter, discharge summary, investigation reports and bills. Even under cashless treatment, non-admissible items are billed to you directly.
