Requests are accepted a maximum of 15 days in advance, and no one may stay more than 7 days at a time within a 6-month period. Remember that a Sainik Rest House is not an Army, Navy or Air Force guest house. Service guest houses, transit facilities and messes sit inside cantonments, are controlled by the unit or station headquarters, and have no public booking line — they are arranged through your parent unit. The Sainik Rest House network, run by the civil Sainik Boards, is the facility open to the whole ex-servicemen community. Defence pensioners are additionally eligible for the Central Government holiday homes, which cover tourist destinations the SRH network does not reach.
