Renault has unveiled the E-Space concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, hinting that the Espace nameplate could return as an electric MPV. The six-seat concept measures 4.70 metres in length and rides on 24-inch alloy wheels. Renault has not yet confirmed production, pricing or any India plans.
What Is the Renault E-Space Concept?
The E-Space is an electric MPV concept that Renault pitches as an alternative to SUVs and saloons. It revives the brand’s ‘voitures à vivre’ philosophy, which puts comfort and everyday family life ahead of performance or luxury.
The Espace was introduced in 1984 as Europe’s first MPV and kept that body style until its fourth generation. In 2023, Renault turned it into a stretched, three-row version of the Austral SUV. The E-Space concept suggests the company is considering a return to the original format.
What Are the Size and Design Details?
Renault’s brand design director Alexandre Malval says the design has been stripped of anything that distracts the eye. The front gets U-shaped LED elements on a blanked-off grille, with an illuminated Renault logo that appears to float above it. The steeply raked windscreen is a nod to the original Espace.
| Detail | Renault E-Space concept |
|---|---|
| Length | 4.70 metres |
| Width | 2.02 metres |
| Height | 1.67 metres |
| Wheels | 24-inch alloys |
| Seating | 6 seats, three rows |
Renault says the proportions are close to the original Espace, though with shorter overhangs. The large glasshouse is meant to let in plenty of natural light. At the rear, a spoiler recalls the roof bars of the third- and fourth-generation Espace. The U-shaped lights repeat the front design on a gloss-black panel.
What Is Inside the Electric MPV?

The cabin brings back the bright pop colours Renault used in the 1970s. Highlights include:
- An ‘OpenR Panorama’ screen spanning the full dashboard width. It is not touch-enabled, and Renault says the display will appear in the next-generation Rafale and Scenic.
- A smaller touchscreen suspended from the dashboard for music and navigation.
- A yoke-style steering wheel with touch-sensitive buttons that work with the OpenR display.
- Steer-by-wire, with no mechanical steering column, which frees up driver footwell space.
How Does the Seating Work?
Six seats are spread across three rows. Folding tables sit on the front seatbacks for second-row passengers, unless they turn around to face the third row. The second-row seats can also fold flat into a table for those behind.
What Powertrain and Range Can We Expect?
Renault has not revealed the concept’s architecture or powertrain. The company is developing a new RGEV Medium 2.0 platform with an 800-volt architecture, designed for saloons, SUVs and even an MPV. If the E-Space reaches production, it is likely to use this platform. The platform is claimed to support up to 750 km of WLTP range, but this is not a confirmed figure for the E-Space.
Will the Renault E-Space Come to India?
Renault has announced no India plans for the E-Space. It is a concept, and the company has not confirmed a production version. Renault appears to be looking at the success of its electric revivals of the Twingo, Renault 4 and Renault 5.
For now, Indian buyers can follow other launches in our Cars section and Electric Vehicles section. Two festive-season launches to watch are the Hyundai Bayon and the Toyota Glanza facelift.
What Is Official and What Is Not?
The reveal at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the dimensions, the seating layout and the interior features are shown by Renault. Production, the powertrain, battery size, range, price and any India launch have not been confirmed.
