Hyundai has unveiled the India-spec Bayon ahead of its launch on 26 October 2026. The new SUV will sit between the Venue and the Creta in Hyundai’s line-up, and expected pricing is around Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14 lakh ex-showroom. Hyundai has not announced official prices yet, so all price figures here are estimates.

The unveil was reported by Autocar India, Team-BHP and CarDekho. With the Diwali season starting, the Bayon is one of the most-watched launches of the month.

When Is the Hyundai Bayon Launching in India?

The Hyundai Bayon is set to launch on 26 October 2026, according to reports that followed the unveil. Hyundai had earlier confirmed the name and said it would share more details in the weeks before launch. Bookings and variant-wise prices are expected to be announced around the launch date.

What Is Different About the India-Spec Bayon?

Hyundai already sells a Bayon in Europe and some other markets. That model is an i20-based crossover with a hatchback-like shape. The India-spec Bayon shares only the name with it.

Hyundai’s teasers and design sketches show a more premium, boxier and SUV-like silhouette. The brand’s new ‘Art of Steel’ design language is reported to feature on the India model, and a geometric 17-inch alloy wheel design has been seen in teasers.

What Features Are Expected?

Hyundai has revealed the interior, and CarDekho’s coverage highlights a quirky cabin and a panoramic sunroof. Reports say the cabin layout resembles the next-generation i20, with a dual-tone steering wheel carrying Hyundai’s four-dot motif.

Features expected on higher variants, but not yet confirmed variant-wise, include:

  • A 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless phone mirroring
  • A digital instrument cluster
  • Level 2 ADAS
  • Ventilated front seats
  • A panoramic sunroof
  • A 360-degree camera and six airbags

Reports say the Bayon is not expected to get Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect infotainment system.

Which Engine Will the Bayon Get?

Hyundai has not published full specifications in the reports I could check. The expected setup is:

Detail Expected
Engine 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol
Power and torque About 115 PS and 144 Nm
Gearbox 6-speed manual and CVT
CNG Factory-fitted option expected
Diesel Not expected

If the CNG version arrives, it would be the first Hyundai above 4 metres in length to get a factory CNG kit. The Bayon is expected to measure roughly 4.2 to 4.3 metres.

What Will the Hyundai Bayon Cost?

Most estimates put the ex-showroom price at about Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14 lakh. A few sources suggest a starting price near Rs 8.5 lakh and a top-end price around Rs 15 lakh.

Source of estimate Expected ex-showroom price
Most reports Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14 lakh
Some reports Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh

Pricing will depend on the engine, gearbox and variant mix that Hyundai announces. Wait for the official price list on launch day before making a decision.

Which Cars Will the Bayon Rival?

Reports list the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Maruti Suzuki Victoris as key rivals. Because it will be priced below the Creta, it is also likely to be compared with compact SUVs such as the Maruti Fronx.

Should You Wait for the Hyundai Bayon?

If you are planning to buy a compact or mid-size SUV this festive season, waiting until 26 October makes sense. The CNG option, ADAS and sunroof could make the Bayon strong value if prices stay near the expected range.

Defence personnel buying through the canteen route can read our guides on CSD car purchase eligibility and price and CSD car entitlement rules for 2026. Whether the Bayon will be listed on CSD has not been announced. For more launches, visit our Cars section.

What Is Official and What Is Expected?

The unveil and the 26 October launch date come from media reports on Hyundai’s reveal. Engine details, features, mileage and prices are still expected figures until Hyundai publishes its official specifications and price list.
